Where these dates come from
Winchester's original factory records do not cover every model. For the Model 1300, the dates come from one published source, Model 120/1200/1300 shared-family year-end table. It was typed up long after production, so treat any year as a close estimate rather than a factory record.

What to know about Model 1300 serial numbers
- The published numbers all carry an L prefix. Keep the L on. Without it the number cannot be placed in this table.
- Model 1300 serial numbers sit in the shared Model 120/1200/1300 table. The serial number alone cannot separate a Model 1300 from a Model 120 or a Model 1200.
- Model 1300 production began in 1978, so the part of the shared table before 1978 cannot be a Model 1300.
- The published shared range L739617 to L2599825 is not a Model 1300-only range.
- No reliable serial number range or production total for the Model 1300 on its own was found.
- Winchester's own customer-service list is a retyped compilation, not the original records. The list itself says that no complete original serial record from 1866 onward is known to exist, and that some of its figures are estimates.
- Winchester's own customer-service list notes that Model 1200 production actually started in 1964 at serial 100,000, but that those records are no longer available.

The Cody Firearms Museum, which holds Winchester’s surviving factory records and issues factory letters, does not list the Model 1300 among the models it can search. The published tables on this page are the best evidence available for dating one.
