What to know about Model 190 serial numbers

  • The B prefix is shared with other models, so it gives no year table for the Model 190. The prefix on its own can neither identify a Model 190 nor date one.
  • Do not confuse the semiautomatic Model 190 with the much earlier Model 1906/06 pump rifle.

Winchester rifles that never had a serial number

These have no serial number to look up. Their pages explain why, and how to date one from its features.

No factory letter is available for the Model 190

The Cody Firearms Museum, which holds Winchester’s surviving factory records and issues factory letters, does not list the Model 190 among the models it can search. The published tables on this page are the best evidence available for dating one.
